My family loves this restaurant. I had never been here. Let me first say the server was awesome. She was very pleasant and attentive. She made me feel welcomed the whole time. A+ for how she did her job. I ordered mandarin chicken, pork fried rice, shrimp and an egg roll. There was so much food for only $14.99. The shrimp were basically the size of prawns. They were huge. The chicken meat was all white meat. I only had 1 bite of the egg roll as it was not my taste. The sweet and sour sauce had a couple of gelatinous clumps in it. The rice was sticky and dry. Overall it wasn't bad. I won't be back because I have had better food, but they absolutely did have some positives.

Big Dong Khanh pushing out a very delectable bowl of pho. It was big. It was meaty. It was exactly what I needed. Head on down and get some of that big Dong Khanh in your mouth.

What a wonderful little hole in the wall for delicious, authentic Vietnamese food in Boise. My husband and I met some friends and were able to enjoy a variety of choices from their menu.

For starters, we chose the Goi Cuon or “Spring Rolls” (fresh cooked shrimp, bean sprouts with rice noodles wrapped in rice paper, served with peanut sauce, $11.25). These were fantastic. The ingredients were indeed fresh, and the peanut sauce was absolutely delish. It has a little kick to it but nothing unbearable. Totally recommend.

For entrees, we ordered he House Special Noodles (chicken, beef and shrimp with stir fried veggies and house sauce on top of wheat pan fried noodles, $12.50), Shrimp with Mixed Veggies (Great stir sauce, fresh vegetables and choice of meat, $11.95), Pho Bo Vien (meat wrapped in wonton, seasonal brother and topped with green onions, noodles, shrimp, black mushroom and BBQ pork, $10.25) and one more incredible dish I cannot remember. Out of them all, the House Noodles really took the cake for me. There was just so much going on, so many different combos with each bite and the spices/flavor was absolutely awesome. However, ALL the dishes were GREAT.

Service was perfect! Our waitress was very attentive, informative and most of all patient! We appreciated her so much! I would highly recommend and I will be back!

Great food, large portions and everything was well seasoned and had good taste. I tried the spicy chicken and it had just the right amount of kick, not to spice to burn a whole in your mouth but enough to make it tingle.

I will be coming back for sure! The staff where nice and the food was made pretty quickly so perfect for a lunch.

There’s something I’m not used to here in the Gem State - Asian restaurants stepping out of their own cultural lanes to offer dishes of other countries. Each country has distinct flavors and textures.

In this case, I’m pleased with the flavors of Dong Khanh. Historically, there were Chinese communities in Vietnam, so not a stretch of the imagination if Vietnamese restaurants tailored their menus to local Chinese customers.

Here in Boise, it might also help a small business of over 16 years to have a broad and recognizable selection of dishes.

Of the Chinese-themed dishes I had, I enjoyed the flavors – even more than at some local Chinese restaurants. Particularly, there is a touch of spiciness that is not added on as an afterthought – such as adding chili paste that has its own unique taste but may detract from the dish’s own flavor.

I was surprised that rice and noodles took a backseat in how much space they took up on the plate. The rest was meat and generous servings of mixed vegetables.

The beef and chicken seem to be cut thick. For texture, I would have preferred thinner cuts.

The deep fried Chia Gio eggrolls were traditionally Vietnamese.

This is good comfort food in a simple, diner-format restaurant. Very straightforward, satisfying dishes.

This restaurant is amazing. The waitresses are fabulous and sooo nice. They are usually slammed and are on a constant run but they take really great care of each table every time we are there. Our family favorite is the spicy chicken /combo A7. Make sure you try that no matter what! Tonight we tried a couple new things beef chow fun, and Kung pao chicken. Both delish. Highly recommend this place.

Maybe not quite at the highs of the best of southern California. But great nevertheless. The portion sizes are good and it didn't feel like they held back on meat or noodles. Friendly staff, satisfying broth. That's all you need!

The egg rolls weren't my favorite, personally. An interesting fry method that made them more bubbly/crunchy, but it ended up being a bit chewier and tough than I was hoping. Might have just been that day, since I was coming in at the end of the lunch period.

Also had banh xeo, which was like a giant crispy flour omelette with savory filling. Way too big to be an appetizer. Really good! Recommended as well.

I've been twice, and both times were solid. The second time I actually left because they didn't have the wonton noodle soup that I ordered the first time, but I ended up going back because I just didn't feel like trying to find somewhere else to go.

I ended up getting another type of soup the second time, and it was just as flavorful as the first time I went. Service both times were great, and I'll continue to support this local business when in the city.
